What we collect
Your account:email and name (from Google or your sign-up email), used to sign you in and send the emails you've asked for.
Your trips: the destinations, dates, budgets, preferences, and messages you create while planning. This is the product — it exists so your plans persist.
Optional "About you" details: if you choose to share them, an age band and gender. That's the complete list — we do not collect race, ethnicity, religion, or any other sensitive category, and never will through this form. These two fields exist for exactly two purposes: personalizing your recommendations, and understanding our travelers in aggregate. They are never shown to anyone, never required, editable and deletable on your profile at any time, and erased entirely if your account is deleted.
Waitlist: if you request an invite, your email, how you heard about gully, and campaign tags from the link you arrived on — kept only with your ticked consent, and used only to contact you about access and launch.
Analytics & cookies
We use product analytics (PostHog) to understand how gully is used — events like signing up, planning a trip, or sending an invite. Signed-out visitors get a random anonymous id cookie; if you later sign up, it's linked to your account so we can see the journey. Of the optional About-you details, only the coarse values (the age band; the gender option you picked) reach analytics — free-text answers never do.
On our public pages we also use Google Analytics to understand how travelers find gully — which sites, searches, and campaigns bring people here. If you're visiting from the EU or UK, neither analytics tool sets any cookie until you accept our consent banner, and declining keeps them off entirely; your choice is remembered for a year. Logged-in planning screens are never sent to Google Analytics.
What we never do
We don't sell your data. We don't show your details to other travelers. Voice input is transcribed and immediately discarded — recordings are never stored. Payment details never touch gully: booking completes on partner sites (see Disclosures for how affiliate links work).
